CPC Virtual Advocacy Day

Ms. Sumon Chin, Director of ECLW & Deputy Director of Manhattan Community Services, along with Ms. Iris Ng, Education Specialist, facilitated and led a team meeting with Council Members Karen Koslowtiz and Diana Ayala at CPC Virtual City Advocacy Day on May 5th, 2020. They discussed how CPC serves our community during this crisis, why our programs and services need their funding protected, why our essential human services workers deserve hazard pay, the need for better wages and working conditions, and how the City can better support AAPI, immigrant and low-income community members in relief efforts.

 

Additionally, ECLW staff members Jessica Chen, Ming Chen, Betsy Cheng, Ben Deng, Yvonne Liu, Xiao Wu and Helen Zhu, participated in meetings with Council members to advocating for immediate relief for the essential human services workers. They discussed maintaining funding levels from FY 20​20 for critical social services and safety net programs to support recovery and ensuring that relief efforts center the communities hardest hit by COVID-19 and include all workers​.
