CPC ECLW (Early Childhood Learning & Wellness) conducted an interview with World Journal to discuss issues with child care affordability, and several types of child care available for families. CPC ECLW has its own Family Child Care Network of affiliated providers who are all family child care centers and ECLW provides free training and technical assistance to family child care providers across all 5 boroughs.
ECLW also discussed the flexibility and affordability of the family child care modality that is more affordable than day care centers, has more flexible hours, and provides children with a familiar home environment. Family child care centers is not a nanny service- child care providers have completed trainings and sites must be approved for safety for a child care business to remain open. Family Child care centers usually have two teachers and up to 12 kids which is good practice before transitioning into kindergarten.
