Indoor/Outdoor Play and Procedure
In this training, participants will explore and create different age appropriate activities for indoor
and outdoor play with children. Participants will learn how to conduct the activities with proper
supervision and ensure the safety of children at all times. By creating developmentally
appropriate activities, Providers will be better able to assist children in developing the skills they
need to learn in order to grow.
This training meets the following OCFS training topic area(s):
(1) Principles of childhood development, focusing on the developmental stages of the age
groups for which the program provides care
(3) Child day care program development
(4) Safety and security procedures
(7) Statutes and regulations pertaining to child day care

Nutrition and Menu Planning
Children need nutritious food to help their bodies and minds develop and grow. It is critical that
child care providers serve healthy, nutritious food, because children consume such a large
percentage of their daily calories while at child care programs. In this training, Providers will
learn how to create menus for their program that contain a balanced diet. They will also learn
about food requirements depending on the age of the child and what the regulations are about
providing foods that are adequate in amount and variety to meet the needs of each child.
