30-Hour Cohort: Healthy Eating: Obesity Prevention in Child Care (2nd Chinese Cycle)
May 30, 2020 @ 1:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Healthy eating habits and regular gross motor activities are both important components of a healthy lifestyle for everyone, especially for young children. Recent research tells us that today’s children are actually not getting enough physical activity, which can lead to obesity and diabetes. Child care providers can be positive role models as they work with children in their care. The routines and habits that are started early in life will be easier to continue as the children grow. Whereas inactivity early in life will continue into adulthood, causing a serious risk of heart disease and high blood pressure.
This training meets the following OCFS training topic area(s):
1. Principles of childhood development, focusing on the developmental stages of the age groups for which the program provides care
2. Nutrition and health needs of infants and children
3. Child day care program development
