30-Hour Cohort: Social & Emotional Development in Early Childhood and Safety & Prevention in Child Care (Korean)

January 11, 2020 @ 9:30 am - 4:00 pm

This training will be for two sessions. The first session will provide participants an understanding of what healthy social-emotional development is, its importance to later learning, and specific ways to support healthy social-emotional development. The relationships we build with children, families, and colleagues are at the foundation of everything we do with children. We know about the importance of relationships in terms of children’s development and success in school. It is important to build these relationships with all children as a context for supporting their socialemotional development and preventing challenging behavior. It will be easier to address challenging behavior if we already have a relationship with the child. The last session will review Child Day Care Regulation Part 413, 417 and 416, as well as Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and Shaken Baby Syndrome and child abuse and maltreatment. Participants will learn the strategies to create a healthy and safe environment to promote learning.

This training meets the following OCFS training topic area(s):

1. Principles of childhood development, focusing on the developmental stages of the age groups for which the program provides care

2. Nutrition and health needs of infants and children
