11/21/14 Given the increasing language and cultural diversity of the NYC, it is important to know the changing needs of each neighborhood. Worked with the NYC CCR&R Consortium over the past 12 months on collection of child care data. Now ready for the public to know. Release data and email blasts Parents, child care providers, community leaders, policy influencers/makers& media (State) To release and inform the New York State 2013 Data, across the five boroughs and 173 zip codes of NYC, over 11,500 regulated child care and early education programs serving more than 370,000 children from infancy through school age. Emails with links and data and information were sent to our targeted audiences about the data and information on the high areas in NYC of child are needs.

  • Children in the Overflow Sidewalk Crowd during the CPC Community Rally at PS 124 on May 10, 2012 The staff, Board of Directors, students, and parents of CPC’s Child Care Division made it their mission to fight for the restoration of Child Care programs in the Lower East Side. Members of CPC participated in various rallies organized by the Campaign for Children, DC1707, and Henry Street Settlement. Recognizing that there were no rallies focusing specifically on Chinatown programs, CPC organized two rallies to bring attention to the large Lower-East Side community.
  • CPC’s first community rally was held at PS 124, CPC’s COA (Council on Accreditation) accredited Confucius Plaza OST program. An overwhelming turnout of 1,100 parents, students, advocates, community leaders, and general supporters gathered to show support. With many children holding small signs that read “Can’t U C Why We CPC ”, community leaders came to show their support including, Councilmembers Margaret Chin, Rosie Mendez, and Robert Jackson; State Senator Daniel Squadron; NY State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver; and Representatives from Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez, Public Advocate Bill De Blasio’s Office, and community advocates. Parents also spoke to deliver heartfelt messages.
  • CPC also organized a rally on the steps of City Hall in partnership with Councilmember Margaret Chin and Councilmember Rosie Mendez. Over 200 concerned parents, staff, advocates, elected officials, and children gathered on the steps at City Hall to protest again st Mayor Bloomberg’s budget cuts on childcare.
  • They were joined by Councilmembers Jessica Lappin, Robert Jackson, and Jumaane Williams, representatives from Senator Daniel Squadron and Congresswoman Nydia Velasquez’s offices, and many community leaders spoke in support of CPC. Voices from many concerned parents also relayed the emotional, financial and personal hardship that their families will be forced to endure. “I don’t want to go to any other OST program, just CPC. [CPC] staff helped raise my two sons who are now teenagers, and one is a Special Needs child. CPC [has given] them confidence…” says J. Almonte, mother of A.   • The CPC-ACCR Director, Outreach Coordinator and other program staff joined thousands of CPC’s employees, supporters, parents and children at a Community Rally at PS 124 on Division Street, Chinatown NYC. More than a dozen elected officials joined this event and made remarks in support of CPC’s agenda to ask for restoration of funding for Early Learn programs.

  • The Director joined efforts with other NYC CCR&R consortium partners in meeting with ACS and City officials to voice our needs on 5/31/2012 and 6/2/2012.
  • CPC-ACCR collaborated with other CCR&R Consortium agencies in organizing an Immigration Forum on 4/16/2012. CPC’s Executive Director, Mr. David Chen, spoke at this Forum.
